Royal Marriages

While usually associated with the Dai Vernon method in his Select Secrets, 1941, p. 11, the plot goes back to the final phase of Johann Hofzinser's “The Queen of Hearts” in Kartenkünste, 1910, p. 127 of the Sharpe translation. There is apparently evidence that Arthur Finley suggested the plot to Vernon and others in the 1920s, and had a method. See Karl Fulves's comments in the Fifth Folio (Horowitz) of Pallbearers Review, Autumn 1971, p. 453; also in Jacob Daley's Notebooks, n.d. (c. 1974), n.p. (item 701).
