The Mystery of the Blackboard

This trick—published in the first issue of The Jinx, October 1934, p. 4—is frequently cited for the idea of taking a quick peek while your back is turned and the audience is momentarily preoccupied; and with few exceptions, the trick and idea are credited to Theodore Annemann, even though he did not put his (or anyone's) byline on the trick. He did though list a creator's name for it in the index for the periodical: Paul Rosini. See Max Abrams's Annemann: The Life and Times of a Legend, 1992, L&L Publishing, p. 222.
