Jumping Rubber Band

Invented by Stanley Collins and published in The Magician Monthly, Vol. 1 No. 8, Dec. 1911, p. 10. Reprinted in his Conjuring Melange (1947), p. 115. In the Tarbell Course, Vol. 1, p. 134, a second band, twisted around the fingertips, is added. In Thayer's Magical Bulletin, Jan. 1921, Frederick Furman explained a version using two bands of different color for an exchange effect. Tom Sellers, in his Immediate Magic (1937) published a three-band version. See Gardner's Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic, p. 505.
